AI vCard Builder
Turn a photo of a paper business card, or a short description, into a finished ScaanMe digital card automatically with AI.
What the AI vCard Builder is
The AI Generator turns a photo of a paper business card, or just a short description, into a finished ScaanMe digital vCard in seconds. Instead of typing every field by hand, you upload one clear photo (or describe your business) and the AI reads the name, job title, phone numbers, email, website, address and social links, then builds a live card for you. It is the fastest way to go from a stack of paper cards to shareable digital cards.
It is built for anyone who already has printed cards, salespeople digitizing a drawer full of contacts' cards, or a new business owner who wants a card without filling a long form. The AI also picks a matching theme for your trade, detects the language of the card, and writes SEO details automatically, so the result already looks intentional, not a blank template.
The feature uses AI credits: each card you generate costs 1 credit, plus 1 extra credit for each optional AI image (logo or cover). If your plan gives unlimited credits you will see Unlimited instead of a number. If you do not see the AI Generator at all, your plan or your admin has not enabled it, you can upgrade or buy credits to unlock it.
Open the AI Generator
From your dashboard, go to Cards and start creating a new card. On the Choose a card screen you will see card types (Personal, Business, Custom) plus an AI Generator tile. The AI Generator tile only appears when the feature is enabled for your account, if it is missing, that is the first thing to check.
Click the AI Generator tile to open the builder page titled AI Generator with the subtitle "Upload your physical business card to generate digital business card." The page has two columns: an Upload card on the left and an Instructions card on the right. At the top-right of the Upload card you will see your Credits balance, this tells you up front how many generations you can run.
Before you upload anything, glance at the Credits counter. If it shows a number, each card will subtract from it; if it shows Unlimited, you can generate freely. When the balance is low, a Buy more credits link appears right under the counter, you can top up without leaving the flow.
Option A — Upload a photo of a paper card
This is the main flow: the AI reads an actual photo. Quality matters a lot here, because the AI can only extract what it can read. Place the card on a flat surface, use good lighting, keep it straight and aligned, and avoid shadows, glare and blur. Upload one card per image and use a clear, high-resolution photo, the Instructions card on the right lists all of these tips.
If you want, set the optional image choices first (covered in the next block), then click the dashed Drop or click to upload box and pick your photo, or drag the image straight onto the box. Only PNG or JPEG images are accepted, and the file must be under the size limit shown in the box (e.g. "Max 5MB"). Choose your image options before selecting the photo, the upload starts the AI immediately.
The moment your photo is chosen, a full-screen animated loader appears with rotating status words, "Thinking…", "Analyzing…", "Generating…", "Almost ready…", while the AI reads the card and builds it. Do not refresh or leave the page during this; it usually takes only a few seconds. There is no separate "submit" button for the photo flow, selecting the image is what runs it.
When it finishes, a Scan QR modal pops up with confetti, showing a QR code for your new card and a View button that opens it in a new tab. Your Credits counter drops by the amount used. From here, open the card and review it, the AI fills the card but you stay in full control of the final result.
Option B — Describe your business (no photo)
If you do not have a paper card, scroll past the uploader to the OR divider and use Describe your business (no photo needed). Type a short, natural description into the text box, for example: "A cozy artisan coffee shop in Dubai called Bean & Brew, specializing in single-origin espresso and fresh pastries." The description must be at least 10 characters and up to 1500 characters.
Click Generate from description and the same full-screen loader runs while the AI invents a sensible company name, tagline, description, category, theme and SEO from your words. Importantly, the description flow never makes up contact details, it leaves the email, phone, website, address and social links empty unless you actually stated them in your text. So if you want a phone number on the card, include it in your description.
This flow is ideal for a brand-new business that has no printed card yet, or when you want a quick starting draft you will fill in later. It costs the same as the photo flow, 1 credit (plus any AI images you turn on). After it finishes, the same QR success modal appears and you can open and edit the card.
Optional AI images: logo and cover
By default your new card gets a clean initials avatar and a neutral cover, so it never looks empty. If your admin has enabled it, a small row of dropdowns appears above the uploader so you can ask the AI to also create branded images. Each AI image costs 1 extra credit on top of the card credit, and the note reminds you to choose these before selecting your photo.
The Profile image dropdown has three choices. Default (initials) is free and uses a clean letter avatar. Use uploaded image (photo flow only) crops your uploaded photo into the avatar, also free. AI logo (+1 credit) asks the AI to design a clean, minimalist brand logo for your company, no human faces, suitable as a round avatar.
When you pick AI logo, the AI logo background dropdown lets you choose With background (a clean backdrop that suits the brand) or Transparent (no background) for a PNG logo that sits cleanly on any surface. The Cover image dropdown offers Default (free) or AI cover (+1 credit), a wide, on-brand banner with no text and no faces. Each picked AI image adds 1 to the credits you need.
Credit handling is fair: if an AI image fails to generate, you are not charged for it and a small note tells you so, the card still succeeds with the default image. The card-text credit is charged only when the card is created successfully, so a failed extraction does not waste a credit. The order is always: card first, then each AI image, each charged only on success.
What the AI extracts and fills in
From a card photo the AI reads and maps: the company or person name (your card title), a tagline or job title (the sub-title), the description, all phone numbers, the email, the website, the full address, and recognized social links (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Telegram, WhatsApp-style links and more). Handles are converted into full clickable URLs automatically.
It then makes smart choices for you. It detects the card's language (e.g. English or Arabic) and sets the card to that language. It picks the business category (florist, gym, beauty, legal, medical, restaurant, photography and more) and uses that to choose a matching theme, so a florist gets a flower theme and a gym gets a fitness theme, not just a random color. The detected email is also set as the card's enquiry and appointment email so leads reach you.
It also writes SEO details for you, a concise meta title, a meta description and 5–8 keywords, all in the detected language, so your card is more discoverable. If personalized links are part of your plan, it even builds a clean link slug from your business name (and gives you a one-time edit on that AI-chosen link). All of this happens in a single pass from one photo.
Review and edit the result
The AI is a head start, not the final word, the page itself reminds you: "AI may occasionally make mistakes. You can edit the business card after it is generated." Always open the new card and read through it once. Misread phone digits, a wrong job title, or a social link the AI could not classify are the things to check first.
Open the generated card in the normal card editor and fix anything: correct a phone number, swap the auto-chosen theme, replace the initials avatar with a real logo, tidy the description, or add fields the AI left blank (especially in the description flow, where contacts stay empty by design). Everything the AI filled is a normal, fully editable field, there is nothing locked.
While you review, look at the theme and language the AI chose. If the theme does not fit your brand, switch it in the editor; if the language was misdetected, change the card language. Because the AI-generated link was not chosen by you, you get one free edit to personalize it, use it to set a clean, memorable URL before you start sharing.
Tips & best practices
Photo quality is everything. A sharp, flat, well-lit, straight photo of a single card gives clean extraction; a blurry, angled, or shadowed photo gives misreads. If the result looks off, retake the photo rather than blaming the AI, good input is the cheapest way to better output.
Check your credits before a batch. If you are digitizing many cards, glance at the counter first, each card is 1 credit and each AI image adds 1 more. Use the Buy more credits link to top up before you start so you are not interrupted halfway, or rely on Unlimited if your plan includes it.
Set image options before you pick the photo. The AI starts the moment a file is selected, so choose your Profile/Cover/logo-background options first, otherwise you will spend a credit on the default and have to regenerate. For a professional look, an AI logo on a transparent background plus an AI cover turns a plain card into a branded one in one go.
Be specific in the description flow. Since it never invents contacts, write what you actually want shown, include the city, the exact services, and any phone, email or website you want on the card. A richer description gives a better name, tagline, category and theme. And always do a final review pass in the editor before you share the link or print the QR.
FAQ
How many AI credits does one card cost? The card text itself costs 1 credit. Each optional AI image adds 1 more, so an AI logo and an AI cover together would make it 3 credits. The default initials avatar and default cover are free, and accounts with unlimited credits show Unlimited and are never charged.
Why don't I see the AI Generator tile? The feature must be enabled for your plan/account by the admin. If it is off, the tile simply does not appear on the Choose-a-card screen and the page would say the feature is not available for your plan. Upgrading your plan or having the feature enabled unlocks it.
Am I charged if the AI fails? No. If the AI cannot read the card or the build fails, the attempt is logged but no card credit is taken. Likewise, if an AI image fails, you are not charged for that image and the card keeps its default image. You only pay for what actually succeeds.
Can I upload more than one card in a photo? No, upload one business card per image. Putting two cards in a single photo confuses the extraction and you may get a mixed-up or incomplete result. Run the generator once per card for the cleanest output.
What if the AI gets a detail wrong? Just edit it. Every field, name, title, phone, email, address, social links, theme, language and link, is fully editable in the normal card editor after generation. The AI gives you a near-complete draft; the final accuracy is one quick review away.
Do I need a photo at all? No. Use the Describe your business box to generate a card from text alone, ideal for a brand-new business with no printed card. Remember it won't invent contact details, so include any phone, email or website you want shown directly in your description.
